GTA VI Radio Stations
OVERVIEW
Rockstar hasn't said much about how in-game radio will actually work in GTA VI, but music is clearly wired into the story itself, not just the soundtrack. Dre'Quan Priest's label, Only Raw Records, and his signed act, the rap duo Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe and Roxy), give this game's music scene a narrative backbone the series hasn't leaned on quite this directly before.
Six real-world songs have surfaced through the trailers alone, though none are officially confirmed to be part of the actual in-game radio lineup yet -- they may just be trailer needle-drops. The clearest hint at a real station comes from wardrobe, not a tracklist: a promotional clip shows Jason Duval wearing a shirt with a redesigned V-Rock logo, suggesting Vice City's classic rock station is making a comeback under a new look.
SONGS FROM THE TRAILERS
Trailer 1 opened on Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road" (1989). Trailer 2 added five more: Jay Ferguson's "Thunder Island" (1977), Zenglen's "Child Support" (2004), Wang Chung's "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" (1986), Tammy Wynette's "Talkin' to Myself Again" (1987), and The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together" (1986) -- the last of which reportedly spiked hard on streaming platforms right after the trailer dropped.
EARLY LEAK PLACEHOLDERS
Footage from the September 2022 leaks mostly showed GTA Online's existing stations standing in as rough placeholders -- iFruit Radio, Music Locker Radio, Non-Stop-Pop FM, and blonded Los Santos among them -- rather than anything final. One outlier stood out, though: Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water," a track that isn't part of GTA Online's current library, hinting at least one new addition somewhere down the line.
A LICENSING FALLOUT
Not every music deal has gone smoothly. In September 2024, Heaven 17 co-founder Martyn Ware said publicly that Rockstar's offer for full, permanent rights to the band's 1983 track "Temptation" came in at a flat $7,500 -- and turned it down, pointing out the gap between that number and the game's eventual commercial haul.
