Take-Two Shareholder Meeting Comments Fuel Speculation on a GTA 6 PC Port

GTA 6 launches this November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only -- but comments from Take-Two's top executive suggest PC players shouldn't give up hope, just patience.
At Take-Two's virtual shareholder meeting this week, CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the company's general philosophy on platform releases, and while he wasn't speaking about GTA 6 specifically, his words landed squarely in the middle of ongoing fan speculation about the game's future on PC. As reported by GamesRadar, Zelnick said Take-Two's approach is to release games "for any platforms for which there is a meaningful audience," adding that "the PC is becoming more and more important to our company over time."
GTA 6 is confirmed to launch in November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced for day one. But Rockstar's track record tells a consistent story: GTA 5 arrived on console in September 2013 and didn't reach PC until April 2015, an 18-month wait. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern but on a shorter timeline, launching on console in October 2018 and hitting PC about a year later in November 2019.
Zelnick has previously explained the console-first strategy in an interview with Bloomberg, noting that Rockstar prioritizes serving its "core" audience first. He also gave a striking sales comparison: when he joined Take-Two in 2007, PC made up roughly 5% of sales volume for the NBA 2K series. Now, he said, PC can account for 45-50% of a big title's sales -- a huge shift that helps explain why his shareholder-meeting comments emphasized the platform's growing importance company-wide.
For context, this isn't the only theory floating around about why GTA 6 skips PC at launch. Former Rockstar developer Mike York previously suggested the studio simply "prioritizes what sells first," pointing to PlayStation's historical dominance as the platform most players are on. It's also worth noting Rockstar and Sony have a co-marketing arrangement tied to GTA 6, though Zelnick has stated that isn't the reason for withholding a PC release.
Taken together, none of this confirms a release date or even a certainty of a PC version -- Zelnick's comments were about Take-Two's broader platform strategy, not a GTA 6-specific announcement. But given Rockstar's history and the financial incentive Zelnick just laid out, PC players have reason to expect a port eventually. Based on past release gaps, anything from about one to two years post-launch seems like the reasonable window to watch, meaning a second wave of sales -- and a second round of hype -- could still be ahead long after the console launch dust settles.
