A midnight-local unlock schedule would mean American fans watch the rest of the world play GTA 6 for the better part of a day before their own copy goes live.
A new report from GTA Vice, cited by GameSpot, suggests GTA 6 won't unlock simultaneously worldwide when it launches on November 19. After scouring PlayStation Store listings across 63 countries and regions, GTA Vice found evidence pointing to a midnight-local-time rollout rather than a single global moment of release.
If that pattern holds, New Zealand and Australia would be among the very first places on Earth to play GTA 6, with New Zealand's midnight unlock working out to roughly 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET on November 18 for players tracking along in the US. The United States, by contrast, would be among the last major markets to get access -- reportedly around 16 hours after New Zealand players are already in the game.
It's worth stressing that this comes from PlayStation Store listings, not a Rockstar announcement. GameSpot says it has reached out to the developer for comment, and until Rockstar confirms official launch windows directly, none of this should be treated as locked in.
For American fans, a staggered rollout like this raises a very practical concern beyond just the wait: spoilers. Sixteen hours is a long window for footage, screenshots, and story details to spread from players in earlier time zones before the US even gets a chance to log on, and anyone hoping to go in blind may want to plan an information blackout for launch day.
This also lines up with other recent reporting on GTA 6's release-day mechanics, including talk of players potentially finding time zone loopholes to start earlier than their local midnight. Combined with preloading opening November 12 and physical copies hitting store shelves that same day (albeit locked until the 19th), it's shaping up to be a launch with a lot of moving parts for players to track -- even before Rockstar has said a word officially about time zones.
