Target's Student Discount Knocks GTA 6 Down to $64

GameSpot reports that verified students shopping at Target can score a discount on GTA 6's standard edition. Through the free Target Circle Students membership, eligible shoppers get 20% off the code-in-the-box version of the game, dropping the price from $80 to $64 before taxes. The deal was first spotted by Wario64.
To qualify, shoppers need to sign up for Target Circle and submit a school-issued document confirming their enrollment. Once verified, students can apply the discount to the code-in-the-box version of GTA 6 for either PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Preordering now also comes with added perks, including the Vintage Vice City Pack and a free month of GTA+.
It's worth noting that this discount only applies to the $80 standard edition sold in stores. GTA 6's $100 edition isn't available physically, so anyone wanting that version will need to pay full price for a digital copy through official channels.
According to GameSpot's report, Take-Two has defended the $80 price tag as fair given what's included, even though it's $10 higher than the typical AAA price point. The outlet notes that one stock analyst believes Rockstar's pricing decision could push other developers toward the same $80 benchmark, and Nintendo has already done so with Mario Kart World. For context, GTA 5 launched in 2013 at $60, which would equate to more than $85 today when adjusted for inflation.
GTA 6 is set to launch November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it's widely expected to be one of the biggest game releases of the year.
