Forget street smarts alone -- in Vice City, how Jason and Lucia look can decide whether influencers, celebrities, and tourists even give them the time of day.

Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson gave a new interview detailing how vanity is woven into the fabric of GTA 6's world, according to GameSpot. Speaking to Dazed ahead of the game's Netflix Extended Preview, Nelson explained that Vice City is built around image and appearance, and that how Jason and Lucia present themselves will "carry significant weight" when interacting with social media stars, celebrities, and everyday tourists.

That appearance ties directly into a broader physical care system for the two protagonists. Working out will visibly build muscle, while overeating will make Jason and Lucia noticeably heavier, and Rockstar says the goal is to let players express themselves without losing "the essence" of who these characters are -- Jason as an ex-military drug runner, Lucia fresh out of a prison stint.

Rest matters too. GameSpot notes that going without sleep for days, or constantly fleeing the police, will wear the characters down over time. Players can tackle the game solo as either character or as the duo, with Rockstar designing the switch between them to feel seamless.

Nelson also touched on how the world reacts to player choices, saying consequences in GTA 6 will "cut much deeper" than in prior entries in the series. He framed the characters as far from blank slates, telling Dazed that "their story becomes a journey you share with them" rather than an empty avatar players simply puppet through the story.

These comments arrive alongside a wave of other new details Rockstar has shared this week about NPC variety and world-building, all ahead of the first extended look at GTA 6 debuting on Netflix before a wider rollout on platforms like YouTube.
