One-Day Best Buy Gift Card Discount Could Cut Ultimate Edition Cost

Best Buy's 60th-anniversary sale on August 22 offers $100 gift cards for $60, a deal that lines up neatly with the $100 price tag on GTA 6's Ultimate Edition.
Retailer Best Buy is marking its 60th anniversary with a one-day promotion that happens to be well-timed for GTA 6 shoppers, according to GameSpot. On August 22 only, customers who visit a physical Best Buy store can buy a $100 gift card for just $60, effectively a 40 percent discount on future purchases.
GameSpot notes the deal requires an in-person store visit, and quantities are limited, with the fine print guaranteeing a minimum of 50 gift cards per location. Shoppers are being encouraged to arrive early given the limited supply.
The timing lines up with GTA 6's $100 Ultimate Edition, meaning buyers could effectively pick up that version for $60 using the discounted gift card. Alternatively, the $100 card would cover the $80 standard edition with money left over, or it could simply go toward other Best Buy purchases. As GameSpot points out, physical copies of GTA 6 sold at Best Buy and other retailers won't include a disc -- instead, buyers get a code in the box.
Best Buy's anniversary sale reportedly includes other discounts as well, such as Beats Studio Pro headphones dropping to $160 and Apple AirPods Pro 3 down to $190, alongside up to 60% off a range of video games. GTA 6 itself is set to launch November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Rockstar planning to showcase the game via Netflix on August 27.
