Diner Snapshot Puts Lucia and Jason in a Pulp Fiction Pose, Pistols Included

A single image of two criminals, two guns, and an empty duffel bag has fans convinced Rockstar is winking at one of cinema's most famous diner robberies.
A newly surfaced GTA 6 screenshot has fans drawing a direct line to the opening of Pulp Fiction, according to GameSpot. The image, originally shared by Love magazine on Instagram, was placed side by side with Tarantino's diner scene by the GTA 6 Countdown social account, and the framing lines up closely enough that the comparison has spread quickly online.
In the screenshot, Lucia and Jason are both gripping pistols, with an empty duffel bag sitting next to Lucia, seemingly ready to be filled. It mirrors the setup of Pumpkin and Honey Bunny's diner holdup in Pulp Fiction, right down to the moment before the robbery kicks off. GameSpot notes it's possible the two are just having breakfast, but the visible weapons and bag make that read unlikely.
This wouldn't be new territory for the series. GameSpot points out that GTA games have leaned on overt movie homages before, citing Vice City's Scarface references and GTA 5's nods to Heat. A Pulp Fiction nod would fit that pattern, especially for a game built around a Bonnie and Clyde-style pair of criminal lovers whose story, as GameSpot notes, invites speculation about how things end for them given how that real-world outlaw tale concluded.
The timing also lines up with recent comments from GTA 6's writers. Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern told Love magazine the team wanted Jason and Lucia to feel "vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes," while fellow writer Alexa D'Agostino described aiming for a "perfectly imperfect" portrayal full of clichés that still feels real. A scene cribbing from one of the most quoted movie openings of the '90s fits neatly with writers who seem comfortable leaning into familiar genre beats on purpose rather than avoiding them.
For fans tracking every drip of GTA 6 marketing, this is another small piece in a much larger puzzle of pop-culture nods Rockstar has been scattering ahead of launch, alongside previously reported threads on the game's soundtrack, cast confirmations, and the broader Bonnie-and-Clyde framing of Lucia and Jason's story. Whether this diner moment is a scripted cutscene, a mission setup, or just a staged promotional shot remains unconfirmed, but it adds another data point for anyone piecing together how cinematic Rockstar plans to make this particular chapter of the duo's story. GTA 6 is set to launch November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
