Rockstar Rules Out an Orlando Theme Park Parody for Vice City
Written by the GTA6 Resources team
Rockstar's own map designer just confirmed one of the internet's favorite fan theories is dead: there's no Vice City version of Walt Disney World waiting to be trashed and toured.
Rockstar's Jack McPherson told Game Informer directly that Florida's central tourist corridor — Orlando, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and even the Space Coast's Cape Canaveral launch pad — will not be recreated in GTA 6. Asked point-blank whether that region would appear in some form, McPherson's answer was a clear no.
That said, McPherson didn't leave it there. He emphasized that Rockstar is still aiming to deliver what he called the "full Florida experience," just through other landscapes, towns, and landmarks rather than a literal Orlando stand-in. According to McPherson, the team constantly weighs "the diversity of landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, vistas, plant species, rock formations and everything else" before narrowing down what actually makes it into the game with design and narrative.
For fans hoping for a legally-distinct "Psycho Park" — a phrase actually floated by Jay Klaitz, who voiced Lester in GTA 5, in a past interview imagining a Rockstar-style Disney spoof — this closes the door on that specific idea, at least as a physical location. GameSpot's report does note there's still room for Rockstar's usual brand of satire to sneak in elsewhere, such as radio chatter poking fun at theme park ticket prices or the "Disney Adult" phenomenon, though nothing concrete has been confirmed there.
Geographically, this tracks with what's already known about GTA 6's setting. Vice City is modeled on Miami, and Orlando sits roughly 230 miles and a four-hour drive north of it in the real world — a stretch that would be a massive addition even for what's already being described as Rockstar's largest map ever. It's also consistent with precedent: GTA 5 was set in the Los Angeles area, home to the original Disneyland, and that game likewise skipped a literal theme park in favor of a satirical stand-in, Fred's Pictures, referencing Disney's film business rather than its parks.
For players mapping out expectations ahead of the November 19 launch, this is a useful data point on scope: Rockstar seems to be signaling that GTA 6's Florida will be dense and detailed within its chosen footprint rather than sprawling across the entire real-world state. Given how much attention has already gone to confirmed systems like weather, wildlife, and police AI, it's a reminder that world-building decisions are as much about what Rockstar leaves out as what it puts in — and that satire fans are hoping for may show up in smaller touches like radio or ambient dialogue rather than a full theme park you can actually walk into.
