To make the case that this controversy is overblown, the former developer pointed back to Rockstar's Hot Coffee scandal from the mid-2000s, reportedly insisting that incident caused far greater damage to the studio than anything the current leaks could produce. That scandal involved hidden, sexually explicit content discovered within GTA: San Andreas, which triggered lawsuits, an ESRB rating change, and significant public backlash at the time.
