Eagle-Eyed Fans Spot Subtle Visual Tweaks in Sony's New Console Ad

Sony's "It Happens On PS5" campaign includes a brief GTA 6 clip that fans say looks slightly different from the footage first shown in Trailer 2, with changes to lighting, framing, and Lucia's appearance.
Sony has launched a new ad campaign called "It Happens On PS5," and tucked inside the minute-long spot is a familiar shot from Grand Theft Auto VI. According to GameSpot, the clip reuses footage from Trailer 2 showing Jason Duval clinging to the back of a convertible as Lucia drives, but fans have already noticed a handful of differences from the original May 2025 trailer.
The X account DriftRespawn pointed out that the letterboxing seen in the original trailer has been removed, with the PS5 promo now presenting the scene in full screen rather than with black bars top and bottom. Beyond the framing change, viewers also noted the scene appears brighter in the new ad, and Lucia's look has shifted slightly -- her eyebrows seem less pronounced and her hair reads as a bit browner than before.
GameSpot cautions that these could simply be the result of ongoing development work or just a lighting adjustment for the ad itself, rather than a sign of any deeper redesign. It's common for footage to be re-graded or tweaked when reused for promotional purposes, and further differences may surface once the GTA 6 "Extended Look" trailer debuts on Netflix on August 27.
Sony's commercial isn't solely focused on GTA 6, either -- Marvel's Wolverine and God of War Laufey both get moments in the spotlight as well. The timing lines up with GTA 6 now sitting fewer than 100 days from its November 19 release, keeping fan scrutiny of every new asset at a fever pitch as launch approaches.
